0607: Bloodlust!

MST3k, Experiment #0607

SHORT:
Uncle Jim's Dairy Farm. City kids George and Betty spend the summer on their Uncle Jim's farm, learning of all the wonder and splendor that dairy farming entails.

Two beautiful young girls...Defenseless against the deadly ancient crossbow! Bloodlust!

A group of teen-agers vacationing in the tropics take a boat out to a seemingly deserted island. They soon find, however, that the island is inhabited by a wealthy recluse and his staff. While their host is initially hospitable, he quickly reveals his true purpose: to hunt down and kill each of his visitors, as he has done with everyone unlucky enough to set foot on his island.

Here's another episode where the host segments are incredible, the short is hillarious, and the movie kinda drags.

I'd have to say that the movie itself wears the riffing down just a bit. The short is a classic, though. I wrote down a good six(6) lines from this short alone for potential "favourites" but eventually picked one from the movie... I think the episode is worth watching for the short alone. That's not to say the rest isn't funny... just brought down to a "decent" level by the movie which drags and drags and really is very boring.

The host segments however... For starters, we get to meet Dr. Forrester's mother for the first time (played by Mary Jo Pehl), although they only call her "Mother Forrester" in the credits. Later, we will know her as "Pearl Forrester" and even MORE eventually in a much better "design" if you will. In later seasons, she will look a lot less like an older female version of Dr. F. and will have a much MUCH better fashion sense... but for now, this was a pleasant introduction, especially her relation with Frank.

We get another "drive-by" sketch with Crow and Servo... which has one of my favourite Mike lines of "I'm going to go be Kenny G for a while..." I also absolutely love the square dancing segment, but what I REALLY love is the Mystery Murder Dinner Theater. This segment definitely ranks as one of my top five(5) segments, if not my absolute favourite segment of all time. It has one(1) of my two(2) favourite Crow moments, the other coming in the Sci-Fi era, season eight(8) I believe.

I remember the first time I saw this sketch: I literally laughed so hard, I snorted a ramen noodle into my sinus cavity to be finally expelled a week later, causing plenty of headaches along the way.

Okay, disgusting stories aside, this episode is great. Watch it, won't you? Thank you.

Favourite line: "Water! Lots of it!"
