"I dreamed a gold man was reading to me from a dirty book..."
This episode was where I officially started to find Pearl Forrester funny! I laugh pretty hard at her incessant cries of "Clayton" as she pulls off a very convincing "over-dramatically sick" mother role.
Anyways, ren-fests... wow, yeah, they really don't seem to like those things, and yet they know so very much about them! I think I heard somewhere that Kevin was the initial cause of the ren hate, which oddly wouldn't surprise me a bit. He seems the type who not only had been to way too many of those at one point, but also to have a personal vendetta towards them.
The movie is a fun, stupid little idiotic movie... I don't know what it is about most any 80's movie, but they don't do "period" very well at all. Yeah, the plot is alright I suppose, as far as these stupid "medieval hero" movies go. The acting is horrible though, and the hair... oh god the hair. Is it just me, or is the star a "poor man's Patrick Swayze"??
All the complaints aside, this is a mighty fine episode. Pearl is funny, Crow is funny, Servo and Mike's "Lord of The Rings" bit is funny, the sketches are all great, and the riffing is funny.... Funny!! So yeah, I'd place this at the lower end of the "really great episode" scale.
Favourite line: "Guess what I've been doing!"
